Brass: Lancashire is the original economic strategy game set in the cotton industry of Industrial Revolution England. Designed by Martin Wallace and first published in 2007, it remains one of the most respected economic games ever made — tight, cutthroat, and deeply rewarding for players who enjoy high-stakes resource management and network building.
Compete across two eras — Canal and Rail — building industries, establishing trade links, and exploiting a volatile cotton market. The variable turn order system means planning ahead is essential but never guaranteed, and the gift economy creates a web of interdependence that keeps every decision tense. This updated edition brings improved 2- and 3-player rules, new player mats, and refined components.
What's good?
- One of the top 20 games on BoardGameGeek — a genuine classic of the genre
- Highly innovative variable turn order creates real strategic tension
- Improved 2- and 3-player rules make it more consistent across all player counts
- Meticulously illustrated with high-quality components throughout
Who is it for?
- ✔ Experienced gamers who want one of the deepest economic games available
- ✔ Particularly strong at 2 or 4 players where the cutthroat dynamics shine
- ✔ Fans of Martin Wallace's design work
- ✖ Not suited to casual or new players — this is uncompromisingly heavy
Brass: Lancashire is a standalone game. No other products required to play.

Great delivery and quality as usual.
fantastic packaging and arrived very quicky
Super speedy delivery
A great game, with short rounds, suitable for our 6 year old and even our 3 yeah old (with a bit of help). The unlock progression really helps bring in new rules and challenges, without overwhelming everyone from the very first game.
It’s not that easy finding a game that my dyslexic ADHD 10yr old son enjoys but this one ticks all his boxes! We love it!!
Fantastic price, swift delivery & EXTREMELY well packaged, which in the age of Amazon has become a forgotten art. Game arrived without a single dent or ding. Perfection & thank you.
Excellent service and packaging. Thank you, would recommend.
Great service as always!
Had a great experience with Life of Games. I got in touch with a bit of a request around my order and they were super quick to reply and really helpful.
They went out of their way to sort things for me, no hassle at all, and everything was handled quickly and smoothly. Just really nice, friendly service from start to finish.
Always good to find a shop that actually cares about its customers. Would definitely order from them again 👍
Great experience.
Customer support was outstanding, package arrived quickly and effectively
Century Golem edition is a resin of Century Spice road and as such is identical in game play. For me the brighter art work, beautiful artwork and clever box insert elevate the experience. Very enjoyable resource management/tableau builder game.
Great price. Swift despatch. Nicely packed. What's not to like?
